Good Night and Good Luck
My summary on the quote of Murrow's speech is that television can be useful to the public for information dealing with big dilemmas, but also a big problem that can start something that would never be started if we didn't have television and news reports. I would have to agree with the sentiments because news today and back then only put the most exciting or flashy news to attract viewers to watch their newscast about the information they are delivering. I believe Murrows would be dismayed by the television today because it focuses only on things that sometimes don't matter and things that are important, but also bad or boring is pushed aside even if it has the same amount of quality as the big news. The TV going to a new age of Internet was really similar to when the radio transferred to the television. In my opinion, the "box of wires and lights," has been a great thing but also a horrible in many reasons.

The Monsters are Due on Maple Street
I think Serling is trying to say is that sometimes we can destroy each other with things and objects, but prejudice and attitudes can aslo destroy from the inside to the outside. Based on the information that I have learned and studied, I would have to agree with the satatment Serling says because it makes sense. "For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all its own for the children, and the children yet unborn," Serling says because anyone will try to find the scapegoat and to solve the problem but really solving anything. This is very similar with the story "The Crucible," because with this story, the girls call out everyone that is a witch, but they are not at all. Prejudice is a powerful thing that can destroy the people we love and hate also. We must be careful when dealing with prejudice and suspicion because it can destroy evry one of us.

The Crucible Act 1
"...a striking beautiful girl, an orphan, with an endless capacity for dissembling."
Talking about Abigail and describing her. Dissembling meaning disguising one's real nature or motives. Is Abigail hiding something that is important to Paris to know and did she do sometyhing wrong?
